22 May 2026: Pepper Advantage Ireland is approaching 1,000 Mortgage-to-Rent (MTR) completions, with 949 transactions completed since the scheme was launched in Ireland.
The national Mortgage-to-Rent scheme was established to support customers unable to sustain their mortgage payments over the long term and who might otherwise be at risk of losing their home. It is aimed at borrowers who have already gone through the Mortgage Arrears Resolution Process (MARP) without finding a workable solution. For those who are eligible, the scheme offers a way to remain in their home instead of facing its loss, providing long-term house stability and greater security during a period of significant financial difficulty.
Pepper Advantage Ireland completed its first MTR transaction in 2013, shortly after the scheme was introduced, and has since remained consistently engaged with the initiative, helping customers stay in their homes when other repayment or restructuring options are not workable.
Under the Department of Housing and the Housing Agency’s governance, nearly 3,000 MTR transactions have been completed by 15 providers across the market, with Pepper Advantage Ireland accounting for approximately one third of all completions nationally. In 2025, Pepper Advantage Ireland completed nearly 200 verified MTR transactions, representing 55% of all MTR completions in Ireland during the year and the highest annual volume the company has achieved to date.
Alongside its work on Mortgage-to-Rent, Pepper Advantage Ireland provides a range of temporary and longer-term arrangements for customers going through the Mortgage Arrears Resolution Process, including interest-only periods, term extensions, and arrears capitalisation. In recent years, Pepper Advantage has actively supported customers switching to alternative lenders and will continue to do so.
Commenting, Niall Sorohan, CEO of Pepper Advantage Ireland, said: “The Mortgage-to-Rent scheme plays an important role for households facing long-term mortgage difficulties, particularly where there are no other sustainable options available. For many, the scheme offers the certainty of a long-term housing solution.
Reaching nearly 1,000 completed cases means that close to 1,000 customers and their families have been able to remain in their homes, giving them greater stability and reassurance during what can be a very difficult time.
Our focus is increasingly on engaging with customers experiencing financial difficulties at an earlier stage and encouraging them to seek advice as soon as possible. Early engagement with us can significantly broaden the range of solutions available. No one in need of help with their mortgage should assume that they have run out of options.”
